Description
In Milan, Groana means heath and Groane is that part of the dry plain located north-west of the city of Milan. Due to the low fertility of the clayey soil, rich in iron oxide, the area is cultivated to a small extent and has many pine forests and coppices. Architecturally interesting are some old brick kilns and several manor houses (Senago, Castellazzo di Bollate, Valera di Arese).
